My Story

I am an experienced educator with over a decade of teaching internationally, working with early and upper elementary students in a variety of classroom settings across Asia, including Japan, Vietnam, China, and Thailand. During this time, I have seen how deeply children thrive when they are given space to explore, create, and express themselves in meaningful ways. I am currently a teacher in Alberta.

I am also a mother to my 14-year-old daughter, Téa, who has grown up alongside this journey and shares in my appreciation for creativity, curiosity, and hands-on learning.

Originally born in Red Deer, I have recently resettled in Cochrane, returning home after many years abroad. This transition has been a meaningful return to my roots and a chance to build something new within a community I am proud to be part of.

The Art Nook grew from my belief that creativity should be a central part of every child’s learning experience. I wanted to create a space where children are free to experiment with materials, take creative risks, and focus on the process of making rather than a perfect end product.

After years of working within structured classroom environments, I felt called to build something more flexible and child-centered. The Art Nook is the result: a creative studio where children are inspired to be creative, have fun and build confidence and problem solving skills while doing it.
